So my blender was in the sink and I was too lazy to wash it, so I decide to get the next best thing, my cocktail shaker from my bar. 'course, while there I notice the Bailey's Irish Cream... I'm sure this is probably very counterproductive, but I mixed my Optimum Nutriotion Chocolate Flavored Protein with 8 oz. 1% milk, and some of the Baileys. This stuff tastes damn good!!

Has anyone else ever done this? Also, how counterproductive is this? I guess the alcohol slows down the absorption rate of the protein? Is that all? Or am I somehow nullifying the protein in some strange chemical reaction that my feeble mind can't comprehend?

:D

Next time skip the milk and use

2oz Butterscotch schnapps
2oz Baileys
2oz Kahlua
2oz Vodka
Protein powder

That will get you buff

Hey, the protein powder is still in there, so it must be good for me!

Well Spooner, I remember reading a thread of yours where you acknowledged that you're working out, but you still have your weakness for alcohol and it's empty calories. Being that I'm in a similar situation, I figured I'd just mix the two together and be done with it. :D

I hope you work out regularly.

Sounds like a good way to get really fat, really quick if you don't work out. :Q:p

I went 4x last week. Uh, assuming this slight buzz wears off in the next 30 min., I'll go today as well. ;)

Now, being on this workout/eat healthy kick... i've had to research the "healthiest" way to get drunk

Vodka, baby, vodka's the way to go

I can't say exactly what it does but I'm sure it's counterproductive to any gains or benefits that you'd see. Might as well drink the alcohol straight

Do you mean in the sense that it's empty calories I'm adding, or from a chemical standpoint as well? Obviously this isn't something I intend to do on a continual basis at all (or perhaps ever again), but I do like to drink alcohol (I've got $600+ in alcohol taking up space in my bar), so I got curious...

Well I don't know about the chemical standpoint, I'm sure someone can chime in, but I think the way alcohol gets into your bloodstream and affects your concentration levels and in some cases, your strength, would be detrimental to lifting. I like to drink too, but I try not to mix them however ;)

Whatever dude, I don't know really. What I do know is you need to stay the hell away from Red Bull and Alcohol. That will mess up your liver 10x faster than alcohol alone.

Well damn, guess I'm screwed. The only time I ever drink red bull is with alcohol...can't stand the stuff by itself :)

By the way, I'm waiting to see just how red bull can make alcohol screw your liver up more quickly. And please, no anecdotal evidence.

It can't. If you want me to guess what he may be referring to then I could ramble on about the liver, how it processes toxins, sugars and other poisons, let me know.
