Anyone ever miss jury duty?

I did once, when I talked to them about they told me not to worry about it, and I never heard about it again...

Isn't missing jury duty punishable by death?

Generally they understand if you miss it once (especially if you have an emergency) - but I wouldn't make a habit of it. You can be fined or jailed if it happens enough times.

If he missed it the 3yr exception (at least in my state) will be waived and he can be called again at any time.

Last time I was called, I plumb fergot. They called and said "WTF??" and I said "I totally spaced" and they said "can you come in tomorrow" and I said "k" and I went and sat around and then went to lunch and then came back and then sat around some more and then they said "the defendant went to lunch and never came back so you can go home now."

Good story, huh?

LOL 😀

Don't worry chiwawa626, he'll just receive a new juror notice in the future, it's cool 🙂

Heh... every now and then I get a jury duty summons. Since they don't come registered mail
I just ignore them since they have no clue if I ever even recieved it.

One time I did fill out a questionare... I put down a lot of stuff that would make them not even want me.. for example... the question..
"Is there any reason you cannot serve jury duty"

My *Truthfull* answer was... I cannot serve jury duty because I work midnights and havent been awake during business hours in years. When I am awake during the day I am cranky and my judgment
is impared.
You could also go with the old.. I am a prujudice SOB and I wanna see everyone fry... that should work as well.

Yeah.. I know I will more than likley get a mild flame or two for this post seeing how most people
feel that its you're duty as an American and such to serve on a jury... however my answer on the
questionare was truthfull.. if I had to be awake to serve on a jury I would say anything to make
it fast so I can go home and go to bed.
I also have a different attitude than a lot of folks.. I don't like to see tax dollars wasted on supporting
people in jail... therefore I feel that anybody who would serve more than 5 years actuall time
would be better off put to death.... if it was not drastic enough for a death sentance then they should get away with a slap on the wrist and as much of a fine as they could possably afford.

I had a avi of a guy getting his pee-pee wacked off.. it was in some middle eastern country with a large public gathering to watch... damn I just love that justice... especially for rapist and kiddie porn lovers.
Soooooo much better than spending my money to support the scum... and it solves the problem instantly.
I don't have the avi anymore because I upgraded computers and I was to lazy to save all my old hard drive stuff.

Like the bible says... an eye for an eye..
Now you may understand why I don't do jury duty.

Peace
Rich

Frankly, I don't understand either.

Hell- I had to serve jury duty at a court that wasn't even close to my district- almost 40miles away, but I did my civic duty.

That's the price you pay for living in a democracy.

Anyone ever miss jury duty? My dad did today, what are the consequences? He showed up late and they said forget it...

Well, I wouldn't say I was missing it 🙂

I got called once. I was 9000 miles away too. Nope never went got a relief from jury duty! Kinda Hard when your on the other side of the world! 😱

Ken

$1500 fine and/or 6 month in jail. Most likely he will get a second notice but in this case I am not sure as he did show up but late. If he dose get second notice and ignore it he will be order to appear before a judge to explain the reason he didn't show up .The excuse I never got it don't work, they will just give you the jury duty notice on the spot if u try using that excuse.

I stopped registering to vote a few years ago because I always got called to jury duty at inopportune times like when I was on vacation or away at school.

Besides, how is my one vote going to matter against the millions of dead democrats who are still voting in my state?

It's not worth the hassle to pretend one vote matters.

😛

Heh just try and ignore a letter from the Goverment just because they did not send it registered. It dont work. The IRS dont send registered letters either, i would not recommend ingloring them either.

Where I live if you dont show up for jury duty they send the cops out to find you and arrest you, bring you to a judge and you will be in large trouble unless you are dead or almost dead.

do you have eather id or driving licences? If so they can still call you to vote as they use that informationg to pick people for jury duty.

My mom missed it - she just got a call from the court tellikng her that she missed it, and that they wanted to speak to her ASAP (they rescheduled her jury duty). She didn't get in trouble 🙂

Lol let me guess they issue bench warrant. Can't say u would be in big troubled its only misdemeanor If u have enough money and get a private attorney even for a day most likely judge will just tell u to pay a fine and that is all. I mean I don't think a judge really want to waist his time and the court time to deal with this small incident.

Well, when I got my drivers license a few years back they asked me if I wanted to register and I told them no. Haven't received a jury summons in years. *knock on wood*
