Anyone ever make words up and use them a lot?

One day I was eating at this pizza place and they have these bread thingies that we always ate but never had a name for. So one day I started to call them jiggers and now that word has stuck with me for almost anything i dont know the word for. My friends and I still use the word at the pizza place all the time, but I think i am the only one that uses it for a lot of situations

EX: (At the pizza place) Hand me some jiggers
2nd EX: (At home, talking about a tool in the toolbox that I dont know the name to)
(Pointing to tool) - "Pass me that jigger"

Anyone else ever do this?
 
Yeah some of the language used between my friends and I probably would sound weird to a normal person.
