Seems to be pretty easy too honestly, though I started with a 100$ yesterday and I'm at 1350 now. First time ever playing the *real money* section after getting 50k on playmoney (starting at 1k). Anyone else play real money and do decently at it?

Fixed limit, hold em, 5/10$ tables

I woke up this morning at 300$ and am almost at 1500 now (just won a 125$ pot)

2000 now and done for the day.

I can see how people become addicted to gambling, 1700 dollars made in a little over 3 and a half hours. Yesterday was 200 dollars made in 4 hours. The bigger money games are easier to make money in I think (people more predictable).

But 1900 dollars in 7 hours of work, almost 300$ an hour. Obviously its possible to lose it, but after investing only a 100$ I have 1900 potential dollars to lose before I eat into my initial investment is being eaten into.

You played 5/10 with a $100 starting bankroll?

I usually run up $100 to $800 playing NL and then cash out immediately. I'd say about 3/4 times I bust out so I prob net $400 every craving I get to play...not nearly enough to be significant addition to my income.

I'm weary playing higher stakes online because of collusion and cheating.

Sounds like a lot of fish are playing the 5/10 tables trying to catch cards on the turn and river.

No no, I started at the 2/4 tables with a 100$, switched to 5/10 when I got 500 dollars this morning.

That might be it, so far I'm winning 86% of the pots at the showdown usually. I'm a pretty conservative player, but I find it silly trying to bluff online.

I've made decent money on there, but I'm just not a big fan of online poker, it's not the same as the real thing. That, and I'm very weary with all the scandals, you never know who's cheating you out of your money.....

I agree, probably number one reason I won't ever play above 5/10$ tables.

Good stuff, just make sure to manage your bankroll as you progress (i.e. don't move up limits too fast).

Of course the other thing is that online play is much faster than real play, so you tend to play a lot more hands, which means you also tend to go trough wild winning / losing swings in a hurry. I'd say bank $1500 or so in profit, take the rest and use it as your bankroll going forward. If you lose it all, you'll still have the $1500 for your efforts.

Nice going though, that's a lot of cash to win, and it's not as easy as some would think.

Full Tilt is running FREE tournys to get into the national heads up championship, Check out their site for details. I have played a bit my best was 2nd place. Its no easy task either since winning just moves you into another tourny and so on. But in the end you get a 22k prize package to go play against the pros.

I think I'll do that. It'll let me buy Christmas dinner ect at my moms this year and help them out, plus give me 500$ for the tables still. Good idea.

HAHAHAHAH. Sure, you make 1700 dollars in 3.5 hours.

Let me see you do that consistently, anyone can have a lucky run and if this is your first time EVER playing real money games I find it hard to believe.

Are you sitting 4 tables? If you sat 1 single table at 2/4 and 5/10 for only 3.5 hours and made 1700? You're full of shit.

Either way, you're a pro obviously because if you can make 500 dollars an hour you're better than most pro poker players.

It depends, when playing free stuff it can be rough cause people just go nuts. I have found that playing tight and not being wreckless is the key in free play.

Pro doesnt mean shit, pro just means you make a living playing poker.

I guess it depends. I remember playing when Pokerstars first came out and sucked ass at it. After spending a few months playing a few times a week with friends (university) I became a lot better at it, really just knowing what hands stand a chance, knowing when to fold, when to push and making sure you bring a decent hand to the showdown. I always figured if my showdown percentage was shitty, I wasn't folding enough, so I worked on that with the freeplay. (Which imo teaches you quickly when to fold if you make a concentrated effort to get above the 5/10$ free play tables)
