Anyone ever made their own Chain Maille Armor?

Howdy,

I love the whole sci-fi fantasy era and rennaisance fairs and such and would love to have a cool costume for Halloween from that tiem period. I've seen sites such as this one that have instructiosn on making your own chain maille.

But I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever done this before and how hard it really is. I figure it would take an awfully long time so I should probably start on it now to get ready for next year but don't want to start it and find out it's way more difficult than I thought.

It's EXTREMELY time consuming, tedious work.

I had a friend who did it. It's not hard, but it is time consuming. It takes a long time to put together something big enough to actually wear.

bending all those rings must suck. sucks even more when you inevitably mess up. you can actually knit something that looks pretty similar.
