Anyone ever "lose" their TCP/IP and access to internet?

Heres my situation....I boot up and I can browse the internet just fine, after a couple of hours I just lose internet. I can ping my other machines, I can ping my DNS servers, but I can no longer ping internet addresses. Also my ICQ will still be working until I disconnect, then try and reconnect....which obviously fails. I access the net thru Telocity/DirectTV DSL and use a Linksys 4 port DSL router. None of my other computers have this problem.

This is happening on Win2k, WinXP, and is even happening after a fresh install of XP. I have tried a 3com 3C905B and a DLink 530-TX NIC and I get the same result. My system is an Aopen AXB6 with P3-800 and 512 MB of ram.

I also get this error message in my event log which could or could not be related to my problem but i have no idea.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a DNS problem, sounds like your isp has a Domain Name Server problem, next time it happens try pinging a numerical i.p. address, use this one it is the ip of a q3 server I use for the same purpose, 207.215.129.140 if you can ping a numerical address and not a name address then that means that your isp is not resolving domain names 🙁 happens to me every once in a while and I call up Cox.rr and bitch about it.

can you release and renew your ip?(in the router, and in ipconfig)

<< None of my other computers have this problem >>

so when your computer has this problem you can use another one off the same router without problem?

Are you using internet connection sharing? and do you have a firewall? if so is it software or hardware? does a reboot fix it?

other machines on the same home network can surf normally while your machine is having the problem?

I am using my Linksys router for internet sharing for my 3 PC's and yes a hardware reboot fixes the problem.
