Anyone ever lose some COD4 MP standing levels?

I was at level 45, copied folder to new machine, for some reason I am at level 41...damn...

anyone else seen that?

It sounds like there is a newer file you didn't copy over.
Maybe check and see if there are other files under the player directory or someone who knows where the new file is stored and the player directory is just backups.


Me. I lost a level 55, on the last patch. And since they are not kept on the main servers you are screwed.

I found a 55 level patch that took my level 1 back up to 55, but it takes over 3 minutes to do.. LOL

Are the level's retained on the server or on your local machine? I remember Diablo 2 did both and would compare the files for validity.

Local machine, which leads me to believe you can cheat your way to higher levels.

Anyway, I reformatted one time after reaching level 55 but didn't realize it was saved locally. Re-installed the game and "logged" on to find that I was back at level 1. Fortunately, I had created a backup of the game saves although I was a few levels behind 55 again.

that has to be the same thing that Chunkee is saying.
So all the files we are seeing are backups...where is the latest save going ? I am guessing something like c:\documents or something like that.


and yes when my 55 was reset on the last patch update and start over...hell no
I went and found the upgrader and reset my chr to 55

The only thing I got that I didn't have before was some of the newer unlocks like gold weapons I did not have and could care less about.

I do not feel bad about getting them since the stupid patch cost me all the levels I earned.

I lost 3 golden guns and a level 55 the other night when I had to reinstall my OS. It kinda sucks because I had a lot of time invested in getting the stuff I had. Ill probably wait to reinstall COD4 until a map pack or something comes out because I was getting bored with it anyhow.
