Anyone ever live in the Florida Keys?

I currently live in Redondo Beach, CA. I've been here for about 10 years and have been getting a little restless. I decided about a year ago that as soon as a decent opportunity to move somewhere else came up I would probably go for it. I've been in the insurance industry for about 6-7 years and am tired of that as well.

In the last few months I've really got into scuba diving. It came pretty naturally and I love it. I decided it might be fun to try to get into a job involving scuba for a while and see how I like it. Because of that I applied for an internship in the Keys that lasts about 7 months and by the end of it you're cerified as a master diver trainer, which is a 3rd or 4th level instructor. It normally takes a decent amount of time and money to get to this point, but this is an internship so the costs are very minimal and since you're diving almost every day you get through it pretty quickly.

So my main concern here is the location. I went to visit last week and it seemed pretty nice. It was rather hot and humid, but I really like that kind of weather. The daily rain was annoying, but it didn't last too long.

Is there anything else I should know about the area before deciding? Hurricanes obviously suck, but I can deal with that since I won't be owing a home or bringing many belongings. What else should I be concerned with?

Edit: I would go for it, OP. I was just thinking about how I wish I could start my military career over and become Navy Diver. =( You're only young for so long.
