Anyone ever interview with Microsoft before?

evident

I'm applying for a software test engineer position. What type of questions do they normally ask over the phone before they fly you out? Any insight would be very helpful 🙂

I interviewed for SDE which is very different from STE so I don't know how much help I can be - but the first interview isn't too bad, they'll ask you about your backgronud, why you want to work there, what excites you about technology, and maybe a technical question or two. The full day of interviews? Hell....mine was 7 hours long, good luck with that....haha

If you were wondering, I didn't get an offer from the first team I interviewed with, but I did well enough that I'm still working with my recruiter to get another full-day interview with a different team that better fits with my skillset.

Do a search for "microsoft interview" there is a lot of great information out there, including blogs from Microsoft recruiters, and whole websites dedicated to information on them.

oh ok SDET is more programming based than STE...expect some basic programming quesitons, and then expect to be told how to break/test what you wrote.

Who's your recruiter at MS? I know a bunch of the folks over there. Which business group is the position in? That will make a difference in how the interview will go. And yes, I've interviewed over there a few times and just haven't made the jump yet. I figure I will, in the next few months.

SD > ST

If you enjoy reading docs all day, more power to ya.

Last interview experience I had lasted from 8am to 3:30pm, that was fun 😛.
