Anyone ever install the 3Ware 3DM2 Utility on Ubuntu 6.10?

I have this PCI RAID card from 3ware.

Has anyone ever installed the 3DM2 utility on Ubuntu?

Well the AMD64 binary starts on my Debian system and it's builtin webserver seems to work, but I don't know the default admin password and I don't have the card to actually do anything with it even if I could login. The binary's statically linked so it should run fine anywhere but that also means that any updates to your system won't help it so you're at their mercy.

Keep in mind I have Ubuntu Server, so no GUI, only command line.

set default_passwd = "OmwmsK8lKk2"

It looks like if you ran the install script (install.3dm) all you need to do it /etc/init.d/3dm start. But it looks like you can use the install script to set it up.

Untared the other tarball inside and ran the binary, it needs to run as root since it binds to a low port but other than that it ran fine.

I managed to download the CLI file from their web site, copied that into /use/local/bin/ and created the alias "checkraid" in the root .bashrc file.

So now at least I can get a status report on the command line.

The web utilities would be cooler though. Did you try going to port 888 on your server to see if it displays anything?

Yea, like I said early it seemed to work but I didn't know the default password or how to change it so I stopped there.

I think the default PW is 3ware.

To what directory did you untar the second tar file? And what command did you use to run it?

I just extracted it to /tmp and ran ./3dm2.x86_64 to see if it would run.

I ran the x86 version and got the error: Failed to create SSL context

Well the x86 one segfaulted on my AMD64 so I couldn't get it to do anything.

I got the command line version running just fine.

That is all I need.

I can't remember for sure, but it was one of their docs somewhere...
