a friend of mine says he always tosses his jury summons with no repercussions

I always respond to the summons just to get it over with and i'm pretty sure it says somewhere that they will fine you if you don't show up.

nobody on this forum tosses a jury summons. everyone here does their civic duty, and enjoys it.

I ignored my last summons.

at the time, money was really tight and I couldn't even afford to take a day off to plead financial hardship, much less miss a week+ of work if I was denied.

no fine, no arrest warrant, but I wouldn't have done it unless it was like absolutely necessary.

Not intentionally but I have missed an appearance I was required to go to due to a lack of scheduling on my part...in all fairness, I had it in my calendar at work but I was laid off a couple weeks before the date and I remembered it about a week after I was due to show up for jury duty. That was over a year ago.

I think they just resend you the summons with a new week of service. In my county it isn't until you ditch out on 2-3 summons that they actually send someone out to serve the papers. If you ignore that one then you get in trouble.

Eh most I've done is postpone it like 6 months.
Was suppose to be for 2 days but ended up only being 1. Was a total waste of time for all involved and mostly just watched movies or sat in the way to small waiting area while the lawyers and stuff talked.

I'm 25 and received 2 summons. Went to both of them and got excused from both of them the 2nd day. Work paid for the first one and the second one I was out of work while I did it and got $90 for the 2 days.

The thing I hate is that I know people who are in their 60's and have never been called for jury duty and I've already been called twice. I bet in 5 yrs I'll get summoned for another one.

My last summons lasted about 2 weeks of calling in. This was at the same time trying to set up interviews so it caused some anxiety over scheduling. Now I could give a fuck. They can eat two bowls of cock or call me and my employer.

Just go to your summons. If it proceeds into an actual case and you are chosen for the jury panel, you can always disagree with what everyone else says (ie: He's not guilty, etc) and once you go home, no one will bother you for a long time.

I've been summoned to two. The first one I called and they said the automated messaged mentioned that they'll call me back if they need me. The second one, I was going to call but forgot about it and nothing happened.
I'm actually curious of what it's like and don't really care if I miss a few days out of my part time job.

In our district they give you a group number; they call groups from first to last, the higher the number the less likely you'll get called in. Last time I got summoned my number was high, and I never got called. If you do get called just wear your fuck you T-shirt and you should be out of there pretty quick.

I have received a summons twice. Both times were right around my college years/post college years when I was moving alot, so luckily the summons came for locations where I no longer lived. I just sent a letter back saying I no longer lived there.

I was living at my new house for a few months when my dad calls up one day with a jury duty notice that arrived for me at my old address (I moved out of my parent's house). Threw it away and nothing ever came out of it.

I wish I get one now. Fed Gov pays me even for Jury Duty.

Last time I got called I went in later then I start my work and left before I usually get off. So I love to get called now. Hell give me a OJ length type case.

If you have a scheduling conflict as in school or travel, just call the court house even a few days ahead.
