Its apperantly a public company that works with the government and companies.

It offers a free vin # check but in return wants my SSN, Birthdate, First and last name, and address. WTF? I'm not stupid enough to fall for that but isnt that exactly enough for say some guy to do and identity theft?
 
It isn't exactly an either or with the Choicepoint guys. http://www.choicepoint.com/ They are indeed a company that works with government and companies. Their business is knowing as much as they can about all of us and selling that information. They aren't always over careful about who they sell to.

They aren't a two-bit scammer; but that's mostly because they've grown large, not grown honest. On the one hand, I don't like the idea of giving them anything; but they probably know it all already.
