heres the link to a review Digital Doc 5

I just ordered one, not because i think its incredibally neccessary, but i think its a cool idea. Has anyone every used one of these, How do you like it? My question is this....(i havent gotten it yet) how do you install the thermal sensors to all your equipment, and is there good documentation explaining everything.

I've had one for about 4 months now and I love it, it's saved my system a number of times.

Installing the sensors isn't anything major, the kit comes with thermal tape, and you just tape the sensor to the top of your cpu, making sure that the sensor touches the edge of the cpu.. blah blah blah, you'll figure it out pretty quick. The instructions are kinda shady as for how to mount the sensors, but other than that it's a nice thing to have.

well, more than just under
to get the temp of the cpu, the sensor must touch the cpu core, how this is achieved varies from person to person

well then how does the heatsink make good contact with the cpu? wont that affect performance and cause overheating?

The digidoc is quite popular, despite your first experience with it ;) You put the thermistor near the CPU, yes.

Does somebody have a picture of the thermistor mounted between the CPU and HSF?

If you put it between the core and the HSF, there will be a small gap right?
meaning there's a possibility you might fry your core.

The thermistor would go in between the pcb part of the cpu and the heatsink not between the cpu core and the heatsink. When the heatsink is making contact with the cpu core there is no room for anything in between except your thermal compound. The thermister is next to the core but between the pcb part of the cpu and the heatsink(where there is room). I hope that helps, sorry for long winded response.

Can the digidoc vary the fan speed? So during the day I can have it blasting all my fans when no one is home and then turn the fans down in the evening when I am home?

Uh. Nevermind. I went to the vendor website and found a discussion there. I will not be getting this guy.
