I need to buy a new Washer/Dryer and perhaps a fridge and had heard some good things about these brands. Can't seem to find them in local stores and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with them, or any other brands other than the usual suspects in the retail stores.

We bought a Paykel and Fisher washing machine last week. They sell them at Lowes.

Base model is $629 and say 3.7 cubic feet capacity, but they're using some weird measurement.....though it is larger than any other top loader I've seen.

They sell a top-loading dryer, but we didn't get it. My wife is bugging me about it, so it'll probbaly be a Christmas gift for each other. Something about not having to stoop to transfer clothes is very appealing.

The washing machine, as you'll see when you get there, has no transmission or belts or pulleys. It uses an electric motor and the bin actually rests on some magnets, so it can spin at 1,000 rpm and stay at that speed indefinitly without adding wear to the motor.

The washer is also more energy efficient than any other washer on the market, including front-loaders.

The water level adjusts automatically, though there is an override, so the water useage is higher than a front-loader but less than traditional top-loaders. The controls are very intuitive as well.

The washer also comes with a standard 2 year warranty. We bought an additional four years for $99, so we don't pay a cent if anything goes wrong in the next six years.

Also, they've been in the laundry business for something like 60 or 70 years and are big in New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. Their other appliances are newer and I've read a plethora of negative reviews about them, so I'd give them time still.

We have some Fisher & Paykel appliances, thier dishwasher, cook top, and oven.

We had some issues with their dishwasher, but it got resolved and it seems to work now.

Their oven and cook top are great, expensive and overpriced (in my mind), but look and function pretty nicely. My mom really wanted them so we got them. She's happy so I guess thats what counts.

Our Maytag Neptune has broken down repeatedly as well. There's just no lock in washing machines any more. :(

But a cheap GE or Kenmore is $450, so the P&F isn't that much more and the mechanics are next gen, so wtf.
