Anyone ever heard of Cognitive Science?

Sure, my cousin is a cog sci graduate. It's like psychology, linguistics, and computer science rolled into one.

I see, how hard was it for him to find employment?

It's a her and pretty damn hard. hehe..nah actually she just graduated (from Berkeley as did I. Go bears...)

There's a sort of rumor going flying around that cog sci people are just psych wanna-bes that failed the application (yes, you need to apply to be in the psych major). But in my cousins case, she changed majors like 40 times so wouldn't have been able to get into the psych department if she tried.

I see..but what about the other areas of emphasis within it, like computational modeling?

Uh.. I don't really know. To me, it just seems very "little of everything". The computational modelling stuff is just stuff exactly like comp sci stuff, but for people who really aren't hard core comp sci people. The downside to all this interdepartmental stuff, is you have little focus and like you said, it's very difficult to find a job.
