Anyone ever heard of a band called Widespread Panic?

My friend at work just turned me on to them, and they're pretty good. It's kind of a mellow bluesy rock. Anyway, they're worth checking out.

I went to college in Athens, GA at UGA, and I got to see them several times at the Georgia Theatre before they became well known. Great jam band. They sound even better live than on their cds. If you ever get a chance to catch a show, do so.

This guy at work is the only guy I know that's heard of them. Apparently they play them on The Weather Channel a lot.

They are more well known here in the south than in other parts of the country. I find that when I travel there are differences in taste regionally for some music. What is popular in one place, might not be as so in another. Widespread is definitely a southern rock jam band along the lines of the Allman Brothers.

I've never heard them on the Weather Channel lol.

I listen to them from time to time. Sometimes I really like their stuff, othertimes I have a hard time getting into the music.

I was just a Bonnaroo and they were the last headlining band of the festival... didn't wait to see them though

Me too... I thought the topic was a joke. They've sort of replaced Phish in some circles as the band to follow around.

I thought they were sort of ecclipsed by the rise of Phish. I don't really know, this was all before I actively listened to music.

I like The Big Wu and SCI and a few others alot more than widespread.

Went to one of their concerts. Very cool music. Shame I wasnt stoned at the time. That band really pulls the hard core hippies out of hiding when they come to town.
