I did some research on thsi company and their service. Seems like a lot of people are not too happy. I'm going to interview there today at 4:00 p.m. just to see what is out there since my company is doing layoff's right now.

Thanks

I've heard about this. I wonder how much of a long term deal this could turn out to be or if this whole interview process with them is a bad idea.

You sign up with them to send SMS txt msgs, then the spam the hell out of you (both e-mail and cell phone)...

I heard they are going belly up in a year.

Are you serious? Where did you hear this from? Was it a reputable source?

The source of the claim was humor.com

Oh man! I thought you were serious for a minute. I'm normally not into going to startup companies for work but since Nokia is laying off people, I would like to keep my options open.

Would any of you guys even consider working for a company such as this?

if i had no other leads.. well.. a paycheck is better than no paycheck.

but if i felt confident that i could get a job elsewhere, i wouldnt even apply to them.

All the email I've gotten from them look like virus carriers, so I've never used the site.

But if the paycheck was good enough, I would have no problem working for them.

I haven't really applied to many places around town. I applied to Motorola and LG as well. I even am thinking of applying to go back to Kyocera-Wireless or Qualcomm. Some of the guys here went back to Qualcomm already. That is my first choice but I think I have a lot of competition there (Qualcomm).

About a year or so ago, I saw a listing in the San Diego Craigslist jobs section for a software engineer position at SMS.ac. I replied, and I was able to set up a time for an interview. The day before the interview, I either did not get the exact address or was just checking up (I don't remember) the address I had, and I found two different addresses.

So my suspicions were raised a bit, so I decided to do some research to see if there was anything wrong with the company. I found some information on this site (search for SMS.ac if you haven't already visited this site), which had some negative comments from alleged ex-employees and people who received messages from SMS.ac on their cell phones. I decided to cancel the interview since I personally felt it was too risky.

Now, I don't know for sure what exactly went on in the company, or if conditions have improved if they were as bad as some people have said. However, I would be very cautious in dealing with this company

Well, I went to the interview and wasn't impressed at all with this place. Granted, it is a start up company so I can't really expect much from them. There is about 115 people crammed into this little building. They are all within arm's reach (bad). They said they normally work from 8-6 (sometimes even 8 p.m.). Bad again. Then the one that turned me off the most was when two of the people that interviewed me (at seperate times) kept emphasizing that they don't get paid alot, but get rewarded in stock. Stock is good if you have something you can really believe in but I can't seem to really believe in their product or service especially when I can find nothing but bad reviews on this company.

i have a friend that works there. she had the same feelings as you did coming in. thought the company had a bad reputation, etc. but now that she's in there, she loves it. hours are long, but she said the people are good to work with. and all of a sudden she believes in the product. i haven't really talked to her in detail about it, so that's all i can tell you.
