Exactly one week ago I got strep throat pretty much out of no where. Being the way I've always been, I just dealt with it and it's pretty much gone now. However, the area of my throat smack-dab in front of my thyroid gland hurts every time I swallow. The pain is very localized to that small area and it's *only* when I swallow. It's kind of a dull feeling like you didn't quite swallow something all the way but you know it's there (that's the best way I can put it).

I read about the complications of how strep could cause your thyroid gland to temporarily suck at doing its job, but I've also read about how it may trigger something much shittier. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before and if it'll go away on it's own. I've only started noticing it today because the pain from having strep was so bad that it masked pretty much everything else.

*cue "go to doctor"/"can I have your stuff" comments*

Thanks ATOT, I love you. <3

is it a good computer? can i part it out?

Well, it has no case, it's kinda just sitting on my desk. It is good though, however I'd have to return the memory I'm "borrowing" from my dad so you'd have to replace that. Quad-core powerhouse at your disposal.

You need to be on an antibiotic when you have strep throat. Complications can include heart damage. Strep bacteria is nothing to fool around with.

Strep throat
Complications
By Mayo Clinic staff

Although strep throat itself isn't dangerous, it may lead to serious complications if left untreated. These complications include other infections, such as:

* Tonsillitis or a collection of pus around the tonsils caused by infection (peritonsillar abscess)
* Sinus infection (sinusitis)
* Ear infection
* Scarlet fever, an illness characterized by a rash
* Inflammation of the kidney (poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis)
* Rheumatic fever

Problems with rheumatic fever
Rheumatic fever causes inflammatory deposits (nodules) to form in various tissues, including the joints, skin and muscles. These nodules also may form on the heart muscle, the lining of the heart and especially the heart valves, causing scarring that can interfere with the flow of blood inside the heart. Although surgery can sometimes repair scarred valves, the damage may be permanent. In some cases this damage may lead to heart failure. However, the risk of developing severe complications from strep throat is low in the United States.
