Anyone ever have one of those air/water powered rockets as a kid?

When I was in my pre-teen years back in the mid-late 70s, I remember getting this red and white rockets that you filled with water then pumped up with an air pump (it came with the rocket as a kit) and launched. The only went about 20-30 feet up or so.......but the real fun was launching it horizontally at the annoyinh neighbor or your kid brother 😉

Anyone else have one of these?

I had an asskicking one that was really just a flight that you attached to a normal soda bottle.

Once I figured out how much water to put in, I used my dad's electric compressor to launch it. It was awe-inspiring. It would fly a couple hundred feet and soak everyone!
😀

I had one until I pumped it up with so much pressure that the side of the rocket cracked. I used to use about 50% more water than it called for and pump it until I couldn't push any harder. It really flew!

They need to make shoulder mounted ones that let you fire 2 litre pop bottles in water wars like a bazooka. Now THAT would be sweet.

Ahhh . . . memories. We used to have all sorts of kid deviant fun with those things. And JARTS!!! Sadly, I don't think they make REAL Jarts anymore. Good to see these haven't been sued of existence yet.

Actually, I have a set or two still around. Did you know that the CSPC made it illegal only to SELL them, not own/use them. There is a website for a group of guys that holds an annual tournament - it is jarts.com of course!

I am thinking of trying to score a few extra sets at yard sales and have a mini-tourny with a few of my other "children of the 70s/80s" friends at a campout this summer!
