I'm interested in upgrading from my 20 gb hd in my laptop to around 40 gb. I know I need a 9.5 mm drive but I'm also wondering about the speed I should look for. 4200 rpm vs 5400 rpm.

2 issues:
- heat: some laptops are right on the edge with heat, and a hotter (5400 rpm) drive could cook itself to death
- 32 GB limit: some older laptops need a BIOS update to handle drives over 32 GB, but if your laptop is over 400 MHz it should be new enough not to need this.
