I have a Samsung 753DF monitor that upon my first inspection looked as if it was scratched in a small spot in the middle of the screen. This a 17 inch monitor by the way. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the coating of somekind has peeled or flaked off in that spot leaving that area brighter than the rest when the monitor is on. The monitor was made in March 2000 and I am sure that it has a 3 year warranty on it. Has anyone ever returned(RMA'ed) a monitor? I know this should be covered under warranty, right? Please help me out here guys with your experiences.

I rma many monitor to Viewsonic with no questions ask, the only thing is my was a 21" p815 @ 65 pounds, form CT to CA, ground was 36 bucks UPS... it'll be expensive to send back... so if they can pick up shipping for ya, it'll be better... also check the hot deal forum, there is some sort of 10% off ups or fedex there...

I've had to rma a monitor to kds, they were great about it, I called and told them what was up, they advanced shipped me a new one and a ups label, I dropped the new one in the box and sent it back.

Many years ago I had to RMA a 17" Samsung monitor (it just up and died after 3 months). They did a cross ship with me, but I discovered they were going to ship me a "refurbished" unit. That didn't stick too well with me. I had paid for a brand new unit, and didn't want one that someone else had used/abused, that had an older manufacturer's date on it. After some phone negotiations, they agreed to send me a brand new unit. I still have it and it still works great.

I have to rma my viewsonic lcd... some funny smells emitted from it one day and upon calling them they told me to send it to them asap for a new one. that was 2 months ago though... the toxic smells either dont come out anymore or i've become desensitized ot them :) I HATE sending stuff back- i cant deal with the time without my hardware- especially of course if i have no backups.

Samsung is pretty good w/ RMA's. The method they always used with me was to send a Refurbished unit to the nearest Mailboxes Etc. You take your old monitor there and just swap it out. Mailboxes packs it back up and returns it to Samsung (who takes care of the return shipping charges).

I had to RMA an Acer 15". Spent $65 to send it 3000 miles to Texas (when I was in Calgary, Canada) and waited more than 3 months. Then I found out there was an RMA depot in my own city 5 minutes away. Idiot on the service line told me to send it it the wrong place, but the American on the line had never heard of Canada. :|
Grrr..... They even replaced the monitor with big, black fingerprints all over it.
Acer sucks, but I might just forgive them if they do me a service in return. It's been 3 years now - I won't hold my breath.
