Motor decided it doesn't want to go down or up anymore. You can hear it try to do both but the antenna does nothing. Goes no where.

Haven't had time to pull it apart, just remembered its a problem right now, I'll get a closer look and see if I can find it tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with this. '98 4Runner

if the motor is moving you just need the mast, as already linked. it can be a bitch to feed the new one in (or get bits of old cable out), but you'll get it, and it's worth it to not have to (probably) go to the dealer for a whole new assembly.

One trick to try before you replace it is get a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol, and give the mast itself a good cleaning. If it comes out super dirty, you can try some fine steel wool, just be gentle.

Once that's done use some silicone lubricant on the mast. Then see if it will retract/extend again. I've had the issue with stuck antenna on previous cars, and all it really needed was a good cleaning and lube.

I had to get the one on my Contour SVT replaced, BITD. It somehow developed a curve to it, so the sections couldn't slide in/out anymore.

I did on my 87 Audi 4000S, replaced it with a stubby. No more antenna motor to worry about.
