Anyone ever had bronchitis?

The girlfriend just got back from the doctor and informed me via IM that she has bronchitis. For the past three-four days we have had to resort to communicating via AIM because she lost her voice.

For those of you that have had bronchitis, how long did it last? How serious is it? What are the chances of it spreading to me?

I had it a long time ago. My voice was gone. I don't recall how long it lasted, but I don't think the two of you will be making out any time soon. 😀

which is the more severe one? Bronchitis or Laringitis (sp?). Freshman year of high school I had one of those..(which ever is less severe)...and I couldn't talk for about a week. I still went to school and hung out with people..and no one else got sick...so as long as you're not super close with her (ie: no kissing, no close talking for a few days)...you should be fine.

I didn't lose my voice but it felt like a prickly lump of coal in my chest. It hurt to breathe, it hurt to move. I was miserable until the antibiotics kicked in. Say no to tobacco.

I actually had accute bronchitis...which is worse. It was horrible. I had the actual infection for probably two weeks, but I was still exhausted feeling for a good two weeks after that. So, it really did stick with me for close to a month.

I've gotten it numerous times over the years. It usually lasts about two weeks. Coughing feels like you've got broken glass lodged in your chest and throat and you generally feel like crap. It's not fun, but you get over it eventually.

I had it a couple of time since I moved to Jacksonville Fl. The weather here promotes lung problems.
