I am an administrator of sorts at a large imaging center. I can answer questions about your MRI. There are a lot of people here telling you things that are false or unique.
1) It sounds like they are doing an MRI on your IAC (internal auditory canals.) This is generally done with and without contrast, meaning there is a pretty fair chance of getting a needle.
2) Do not wear anything ferrous. No metal, etc. Just because the metal isn't going into the tube doesn't mean it won't be affected by the magnetic field. There have been incidents where people walk into the room and their nametags fly into the tube. I remember hearing about this kid with rollerskate shoes and his feet got stuck to the side of the magnet (no, you cannot just pull really hard and get things to come off of it.) The whole room has a magnetic field and any metal in there is bad. Even the metal on your jeans, as someone stated, can cause third degree burns (the magnet heats the metal up.)
3) You will spend around half an hour in the tube. It will be loud, so they will give you earplugs. They are not a pill. Do not swallow them. (Yes, this happened once

)
4) If you are extremely claustrophobic and cannot stay still, they can give you a mild sedative to calm you down.
