I got them weekly for a couple years starting when I was about 10 or 11. I would say they worked well, since I don't seem to be bothered by anything now except bee stings.

I got 4 shots a week for the first 12 years of my life. THen moved to the desert climate and didn't have to take them anymore. When I was a kid though..they helped tons.

Had shots from 28 to 33. Should've kept them up for a bit longer, but I have to take Zyrtec every day anyway (for another reason), so I suppose it doesn't matter.

Same here.

I do remember having a reaction to the shots a couple of times. That isn't fun...but that only happened a couple of times.

I do right now. Before my allergies were so bad no decongestant or antihistamine or any prescription worked. 24/7 Sinus infections, the works. Doctors wanted to take out my adenoids but that would'nt even gaurantee that the problem would be solved. So I opted for allergy shots and they work like a charm.

I got them for a few years when i was kid, 3 times a week, 3 shots each time. They worked. I stopped but then started again in college for probably 3 years. My allergies now aren't as bad as they were then, either from age, or they shots still working.

Also they have oral ones now.

How long have you been taking them?

How frequent are your shots?

I did a few years back. I stopped on the very last dose as my body couldn't take it and my lungs filled with fluid. I almost suffocated until I was quickly sent back to the hospital for some anti-vaccine.
It worked well though. I used to get congested runny nose throughout the winter and the spring, with watery eyes during the spring. Now I don't get any of those symptoms.
My arms swelled up everyday I woke up for 2years after the shots.

The shots are extremely painful. It's ok at first, but once you get to the higher doses, it's no different from injecting poison into your skin. Everytime I had the shots, my arm would swell up insanely, and it would burn. Icepacks would just make it worse.

Just had my allergist appointment. Doctor says he sees 10,000 patients a year and I have the worst case of grass allergies. He said he would like to try 3-4 allergy shots 1/x per week (about 30 minutes between shots). I haven't decided if I'll do it or not.

Zyrtec (or any form of Cetirizine) works fine for me... I've never taken shots unless it was an emergency (like an asthma attack or something).

Yeah, they always made me itch too. Don't scratch it, try an ice pack.

Two shots once a week from 9 y.o. til I was 15 y.o.
Three shots twice a week from 15 y.o. til I was 18 y.o.

They didn't seem to work until I changed doctor's when I was 15. I had to go through the full set of 'prick the skin' tests a couple of times since my allergies were so bad the flare-ups would cause incorrect reading to those directly around them.

I was allergic to something like 190 things out of 215, or something close to those numbers.

I barely need to take over the counter allergy medicine nowadays.:D

Dr. Sunil Perera is the one who helped me out. I live in Sacramento, CA.

Any idea what Dr. Perera did that was different from your first Dr. that didn't help?

Not sure. I guess it's all in the reading of the test results. To figure out what magic potion injection would work in correcting my situation.

For what it's worth, my first doctor was just my pediatricion. Dr. Perera was a known, succesful, allergy doctor in the Northern California area.
