My 5 yr old sony tv crapped out..a few days before there was a flick(pulse?) while I was watching..now I have no picture just sound..a tv repair co. gave me an over-the-phone diagnosis and thinks it may be bad video chip..could this be caused by a surge pulse? Just thought of it because now that I am watching tv on my computer the same thing happened with the flick(pulse)...am I crazy?

not crazy, but your tv got a cap. broke by a line surge on the coax. Radio Shack sells a coax line surge protector for not much money, too late for you .
