Yep, me too...the military had hundreds of them...called C-47's...not bad planes for their time.

Not me, but a friend used to fly them for Sal Air, hauling cargo from Spokane to Seattle to Portland. He had some good stories, including an engine failure just as they went into the soup at 200 feet. Loaded to maximum gross weight. ACK!

One of my flight instructors always talks about them, dont think half the people know what plane hes talking about.

They're alright. I prefer my SR-71. My P-51 is second place. The DC-3 ranks third for me. I'll take her up every now and then but that's about it.

i flew in a 707 when i was a kid, otherwise the oldest plane i been in would be a either a DC-9 or MD-88

Yes, the are surely classic. They were real popular in Latin America both militarily and commercially.
