Anyone ever filed a complaint with the IRS against a former employer?

I called up the IRS the other day to complain about CircuitCity and their sheer incompetence in getting me my W2 form.

Now the story...

I quit working CircuitCity last July because my work scheduele was impeding on my school work and that just wasn't working for me.

Nevertheless, in September, i moved across town and called up the CC employee services line to get my address changed so i wouldnt have any problem come Feb 1st.

Keep in mind, the entire CircuitCity employee services line is in India now and each and every call i make to them, requires a 20-40 minute hold time before anyone picks up...

Feb 1st rolls around, no W2. So i call CC employee hotline to double check. Of course not, they never processed the change and the lady on the phone tells me i have to fill out a form and fax it back to them. I get the form via email that afternoon and fax it right over... I get a voicemail two days later that they recieved the form and will process and mail my W2 right away.

Around two weeks pass, no W2. I call again and amazinly enough, no request for a W2 reprint exists in their system. The guy tells me i have to fill out the form again and fax it over. So reluctantly, i do it again.

Two weeks later (this past Friday), still no W2 has arrived. I call again, WHATTA SHOCK no W2 request is in their system. I stay on the phone with this fellow for 10 minutes while he tries to figure out what is going wrong. He then proceeds to tell me that they sent my Original one (the one that should have arrived before Feb 1st) to the completely wrong address, not even my OLD address (which would have forwarded here had they gotten my old address correct) and haven't sent anything since... Mind you, i have now wasted approximately 4-5 hours on hold with CircuitCity's employee helpline over the course of this ordeal and can't take it anymore.

I called up the IRS and they are sending me an information packet on how to proceed in filing my taxes w/o my W2 and filing a complaint against CircuitCity.

Anyone ever dealt with something like this before?

Geeezzz, no. I have considered filing a complaint against a former client for improperly designating employees as independent contractors, but other than that, no.

i'm getting close.

when i quit my old job, i deliberately left them my parents address as my forwarding address. they said the change was processed into my file.

i had since moved. i also put a forwarding order on that old address for a YEAR to make sure i received that W2 just in case. contacted them, they said they would "forward my concern." yeah that was two weeks ago. i had given them EVERY address i had, my old address to confirm it, my new address and my parents address.

i'd love nothing more than to get his ass fined, because he did such a craptacular job at running his company that it no longer exists.

IRS site (what to do if not received)

Basically there is a form to fill out and then the irs will request it from the company. But you're still expected to file if you don't get the info in time (estimate or whatever), and file an amendment if it turns out to be different later.

However if you don't owe taxes you technically don't have to file by 4/15.

Either case, what a pia.

so i finally got my W2, and it was mailed to my parents house, as i had requested last year when i quit, so i KNOW they had the address on file and never mailed out the first.

oh well. i can finally do my taxes.
