what was the point?

'hey, we've managed to fill the last 3:45 of this season, and now we're REALLY out of ideas'

Because she's annoying. I just want them to kill Kim.

EDIT: Besides, killing Terri made Jack pissed. If she hadn't died Jack may have continued living with his family in suburbia normally.

Didn't turn out too bad for them considering how often they milked the Jack/Nina angle afterwards.

I assume you noticed why it happened in the script if not in real life / at Fox: Terri heard Nina speaking German.

Also, creatively, Nina would be carrying a lot of baggage emotionally into season two and there's no way you could have kept it from detracting from the main storylines. There was her seperation and reconciliation with Jack, her rape, the murder of her new boyfriend. That's not stuff you can just shrug off........................you know, it's not like getting caught in a cougar trap. I haven't seen it since it aired, but I remember kidna hoping they'd off her so the next season could have a clean start.

I've never watched this show. Think I can just jump in and start watching this season and "get it"?

. . . and it gave Jack a reason to blame himself for not killing Nina when he had the chance, because he didn't know about his wife yet.

Don't watch it on TV. Buy/rent/pirate/whatever the seasons on DVD and try to watch them all straight on a weekend or something.

Unfortunately yes. The show has been thoroughly pasteurized for your viewing safety.

I truly hate Kim. Chloe is annoying also. So is Milo (spelling?), Chloe's boyfriend, and everyone other than Jack.

Unfortunately they are that addicting. I was lucky and got away a mere 5hrs/day for 4 days when I saw the first season - my housemate wasn't so lucky. He had to call in sick to work and watched it all in one go. Then repeated the ritual a week later for season 2...

The badass secretary of state (or was it defense?) in season 4 was pretty good, but I agree, there's too many annoying characters.

I don't watch the show, but this seems like a good idea - sexual tension makes good TV. It's pretty commonly used.

See:
Sports Night (Casey and Dana)
Crossing Jordan (Jordan and the fat kid from Stand by Me)
The West Wing (Josh and Donna)
Friends (Ross and Rachel)
