When I use to drive from GA to TX, it would take 14-18 hours, so just double that and thats probably how long it'll take from PA to TX. Can't recommend it since I don't know anything about ya, but if you're not bothered by driving long distances, then go for it.

Much depends on where in TX and from where in PA.

Best thing to do is use Mapquest (or similar), punch in origin and destinations and get an approximate mileage. Then figure no more than 900/day w/ one person driving to be safe.

I drove from austin to philly.

Day 1, austin to just past little rock. Worst day of my life.
Day 2, little rock to bristol, va. Second worst day of my life.
Day 3, bristol to philly. Third worst day of my life.

If you are doing it just for pleasure and not being forced to move to a ****** place away from the woman you love, i would recommend it. Great scenery. If you did it right you could hangout in Memphis and DC. Those were the only two places that interested me in my drive.

Thats one hell of a drive. If I were to make that sort of trip by car from Maryland, I'd have to be in a very very comfortable car, and I'd probably start smoking again just to get through that grueling car ride.

looks like round trip plane tickets cost anywhere from $450 to $600
I would not take a bus. Might consider train if I knew where a train station was, lol. I wonder how much that would cost?

I'm wondering how much gas it would take to drive also.

Takes me 2 and a half, maybe 3 tanks of gas for 844 miles in a pickup truck from GA-TX, 2 tanks for a car... the truck had a 20 gallon tank and I would get about 350 miles on one tank. (Low mpg because of speeding)

I looked into a train for the same trip. More than an airplane and days of travel versus hours.

its a pleasure trip, if i even decide to go. i wouldn't mind driving because i'd love to see the scenery, especially with my camera along. so it took you 3 days. hmm...i guess thats out because i don't think i have enough vacation days to do it, or maybe just enough (and that would be it until the end of November :( )

so it looks like plane is the only sane way to go...lol
even at $450 thats a lot for me, just for a plane ticket. then i'd need to pay for a rental car and hotel and food.

It took me 3 days, but i was in huge truck that drove like shite with a governor. 8 hours a day was all i could take. You could do it in two 10-12 hour days though.

The train route was crazy because they all route through Chicago to go south/north.

I drove from Houston to Pittsburgh & back for a funeral. Lots of amazing scenery, but damn that is a long drive. Took something like 23 hours each way.

austin, tx to charlottesville, va (about 2 hours south of DC, central va) I did in three days on the way up there, not bad but long. On the way back I did in two days of driving, which was pretty bad.

I've done it a few times, Philly to Houston and back again for visits. It's about 24 hours of driving time. I've driven it by myself over 2 days and I've driven it straight through while alternating with 2 other drivers. It's not too bad of a trip and there is some really nice scenery. It would make a good road trip. Just make sure to watch your speed at state lines, especially entering Texas.

I used to live in Bristol, then I moved to PA. I hated that drive, it was so boring.

I drove from Abilene to Stroudsburg PA in 2 days. First night, I stopped about 30 miles west of bristol and then the next day, made it all the way back. Probably about 22-25 hours of driving
