Anyone ever downclocked a GF4 and unplugged the fan?

I'm just wondering what a safe speed for a Ti4400 128MB would be in a tight case with low airflow with the GPU fan unplugged. I don't really want to pay $30 for a Zalman passive cooler.

Get a Zalman Fanmate1 for about $4 cut the 3pin off (with a little lead) plug it in the other side and splice it into your graphics card fan line.🙂

I downclocked a Ti4600 to 75 core (lowest Coolbits will allow), unplugged the fan and it was fine in 2D.

see if you can lower the voltages of the GPU as well. prolly more effective.

Correct. Just find one of those Fanmate1?s (it's 3 pin), plug it in and you can dial down the speed of that Thermaltake to the point where it should be virtually silent.

I just upgraded the cooling on my Ti4600, I'll get a pic up when I can. It's a lot quieter than the Thermaltake.
