Thinking of getting a used Xbox from Gamestop's online store. Anyone have any experience with their used stuff?

i've gotten a gamecube and ps2 from them...

so far i have not gotten anything broken(touch wood) but let me tell
u how all and my friends systems came.

packing:
1)wrap saran wrap over system.
2)wrap saran wrap over cables and controller.
3)rubber band them together.
4)dump them into a big box.
5)send.

...items arrive all moving around in the box, no cushioning whatsoever.
plug in, turn on, hey it works. :)
turn it on and TEST the hell out of it just in case...need to return.
items continue working.

i wonder whats their secret.

I wouldn't, beleive me, not worth the hassle. I bought two used PS2's and both exhibited problems with the GPU. After 3 minutes, the video would blank out. About a month later another friend in the apartment building got 4 duds in a row. We ended up both getting new units.

A friend of mine bought a used X-Box from a local Gamestop store with no problems.

I've bought a PS2, gamecube, and XBOX (some of them multiple times) that were all refurbished and never had a problem with them. However, I don't really use these things much.

It could have been a bad run of them, so I really don't know. These were all refurb units. The way I see it is if it's only a $20 to $40 difference, go new. It's well worth not having to be out $100+ in 2 weeks.

i've been lookin at getting a pre-owned xbox from gamestop too and it seems that everyone says their ps2 didn't work, but i haven't read anything bad about the xbox yet... hmmm... maybe ps2's are just shoddier quality?

also, the price difference comes out to more than $30 if you count the free game... or now they have the budle with 3 free games.

not worth it. i picked one up, and it ended up being the old version that had the ps problem. i flipped it over one time, and it fried the ps, and teh whole box was fvcked.

just spend the extra, its worth it not to worry about it.

I bought my DC from a B&M store. Hasn't given me any trouble, though I really wish I could find a broadband adaptor for a reasonable price.

Here's a tip:

If you're looking to buy used games online, stick to EB. Most used games at gamestop don't come w/the manual or original case and are packaged in a paper sleeve (almost guaranteed not to work).

i bought a used PS One about 5 years ago. While the CD tray didnt work correctly, it was fine for the price i paid.
