I've got a 2000 Corolla, in the shop, that was a woman's first manual car, 56K and the clutch was destroyed. The husband just shrugged his shoulders and said it was a rough couple of weeks.

yup, I bought my jetta 5 speed without knowing how to drive a manual. I had my friend drive it off the lot for me and then taught myself over the next week. Stalled a few times and had people laught, but F em....everyone has to learn sometime.

every car is a little different but its real easy to get the hang of it, just dont try to be mr speed racer, and be careful not to let off the clutch too early in first or you'll jerk and/or stall..

to my embaressment my uncle let me play with a carrera he had (speed yellow.. couple people outside saw me).. stalled 3 times at a stop light before i regained my composure 🙂

then the new m3.. stalled that while reversing.. felt the car didnt need gas and had no problem after that.. ive never owned one so im no expert but its easy to get the hang of it.. and i know once iget my car i wont have much of a problem..

I did. Had about 20mins driving before I drove off the lot in my new 5spd. That was in 1997. I only stalled once on the way home (About 30miles of city driving). I was a nervous wreck but I did OK. The first 2wks I had to think a lot about what I was doing, at some point near the end it became easier. I don't know when it became habbit but it wasn't long. If you've got the idea of how to do it, then it's not bad--just takes a little practice.

Good luck.
