Anyone ever been to Salinas?

in CA? looking for homes around there... would it be a nice place to live?

Salinas has a lot of mexican migrant workers who pick vegetables. It also has it's fair share of gang activity. It's fairly near Santa Cruz and Monterey, both of which are scenic, pleasant beach towns. Salinas isn't really either. The only real legitimate reason to go to Salinas is cause they have a cool airshow every year.

Of course, I'm biased growing up in Santa Cruz, but Salinas Pretty much sucks. It's an overgrown farming community.

I've been to Salinas, seemed a little nicer in terms of scenary from what I'm used to in the San Jose/Milpitas/Fremont area, but yeah, Mexican immigrants with their Norteno gangs and whatever.

Silly Mexicans.

Agreed. I drive through Salinas a coupla times a year. Blech.
