There's a Microsoft Store opening tomorrow, 10am. I get off work at 5:30am.. and was thinking of swinging by and hanging out for 4 hours for the store to open..

The flyer i saw in the newspaper said "prizes and gifts to the first 100 on line"

Does Microsoft give out anything good?

They just run a quick command:

MicrosoftStore.Open()
MicrosoftStore.StealYourMoney()

MS is pretty cool about giving stuff away. Every time I go to any MS sponsored or organized events they give away a ton of stuff. It's probably worth going just for the swag. I got a sweet old-school DOS t-shirt last time :)

microsoft has stores?

I walk past apple stores all the time but can't bring myself to go in. I'd kinda like to poke around a mac but it's not worth dealing with those fucking hipsters.

That's what i was thinking too...

I haven't paid for the last 3 windows OS's ... as i've gotten 'em free from Microsoft events..

Windows XP Professional
Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows 7 Ultimate

and a bunch of cool MS T-Shirts...

i was just curious if anyone had any experience with the Store openings

When the one in Mission Viejo opened here they were giving out raffles for a copy of Win7 Ultimate, I got a free bluetrac optical mouse

Found some info on the opening this morning in the newspaper:

Giveaways on opening day, Thursday, include gift bags with items such as Xbox games and T-shirts. The first 1,000 people in line will receive two passes to see Disney's Demi Lovato in concert Saturday at Park Meadows.

edit:
had no idea who Demi Lovato is..

I noticed they didn't have a launch event for Office 2010 where they were giving away a free copy.
I wonder if MS is going cheap on us.

The first 1,000 people in line will receive two passes to see Disney's Demi Lovato in concert Saturday at Park Meadows.

This is how they get people to show up. You get a huge line of people who could care less about computers trying to get concert tickets and then MS post on YouTube: "OMG HUGE LINES AT MS STORE OPENING!!!!"
