Anyone ever been on a police ride along?

My brother works third shift for the local Sheriffs office. I'm riding along with him tomorrow night.

I'm going to see if I can find any hot drunk blond girls to give the "Breathalyzer test" to .

Seriously though, this should be interesting. I'll update if there are any good stories.

once when my car broke down and an officer gave me a ride to work. It was really neat as he explained how the radar works and how he knows the speed of any car around him.

Yea I did a ride along with a buddy who's a cop. Most of the night was boring as hell, but there were some interesting moments since it was a Friday night.

I was in a single car accident many years ago. I hitchhiked a ride into town, made the police report, then got a police car ride back to the scene.

I do HR for the County, so I get to go out with the Sheriff's Dept whenever I feel like it. Most of them are pretty cool guys, and it's more fun than you would think.

Yup, when I was in high school and one of my friend got into a fight with some kids and got slashed in the face, I went with the cops to cruise around looking for those kids.

LOL! While I HAVE had a couple of THAT kind of rides, after I came home from Vietnam, I spent some time as a Marine Security Guard, and worked pretty closely with the MP/SP on the bases where I was stationed. We had a fairly adversarial relationship with the Shore Patrol however, as one of our training exercises was to "take" the SP guard posts, and have Marines manning the posts when the Commander of the Naval base arrived for work the next morning...

Yea, I was coming back from the EE lab and had a Nerdbox (Circuit Board) suitcase at like 2 in the morning. Cop let me have a ride back to my dorm since it was raining, I had to sit in the back though cause he had a bunch a stuff in the passenger side. Not exactly a ride along

i rode in my brother's Border Patrol cruiser along the Mexican border (in the desert actually), but it was uneventful.
he did spin a couple of inadvertent donuts for me though.

I got attacked by 3 people in a parking lot when I was back in college. It was late at night at about 1am and the cops who came in and saved me from getting the crap kicked out of me royally were plainclothes officers eating in their squad car. I don't know what these muggers wanted, they just surrounded me and then attacked me. I would have been happy to hand over my wallet cause these dudes were intimidating.

Anyway, after that, the cops jumped these guys and arrested them for assault, they drove me to the hospital where I got stitched up and then took me out to eat to Taco Bell (not really food I guess) and then home. Nice guys and the car was pretty awesome.

Yeah, I got to ride along a few times with an Air Force Security Police canine unit when I was in high school. It was pretty cool having this trained killer dog playing fetch with you.

yup, when i was 13 we got into a traffic accident. cops came and were really nice let my sister and i sit in the back, look at their dashboard even gave her a teddy bear :]

I went on a ride along right after my 21st birthday. It was a good time.

Some normal patrol stuff and traffic stops, but we also got to speed with the lights on to a guns drawn traffic stop. There were 3 other ride along people there and we all had to get out of the car and move back 50 feet until it was over.

Went on a ride along with the Detroit police dept. about 12 years ago. It was a Friday night and turned out kind of boring actually. They served a warrant on a guy at 1am in his house, woke him up to get him out of bed and he was buck nekkid. Got him dressed and took him to the psych ward at the hospital. Only other thing was arresting some drunk for not moving out of the street and being combative with them.

When we were done they kept apologizing for it being so slow that night .

i have before in san bernardino. arrested some stupid little kids who robbed an old man, and then broke up some fight in muscoy. was interesting.

My friend who works for a local city PD has offered to take me, but I've never taken him up on it. One of our mutual friends has gone on one with him, and he said it was really cool. He said that domestic violence calls were most frequent and most exciting, and that it gave him reason to be more respectful and appreciative of what these law enforcement professionals do for the general populace.
