Its nice to have lower rent but my wife works retail and her wages dropped more than our rent did

Guess the landlord would rather give his tenants a small break through rough times then have no money coming in at all...

Ours might go down, it's low now but based on vacancy. If there's more vacant places when we're looking at renewing it will go down.

Mine went down $500.

...but that's because worthless shithole neighbors protected by fucked-up Berkeley laws forced us to move :(

Mine's still the same, but I'm on a one year lease.

My rent might actually go up a little as some of my roommates are thinking of moving out to a smaller place. Not wanting to find a couple spots to fill in my current place and hating the sloppiness of some of my roommates (and new potential ones), I'll probably go hunt for a studio and only have myself to blame when there is a mess.

How did they force you to move? You aren't the guy who had the school teacher and the pot head psychopath neighbors who would play loud music and threatened to kill your gf, are you?

My rent is going up a whole $10 starting next month.

It would have made me laugh if I hadn't gotten the letter stating this the day after getting laid off.

My landlord owns about 30-40 houses/multi-families in the area, so I guess among them the $10/person will actually work out to an extra $10k-$20k/year or more, depending on how much the rent went up on other properties. I'm guessing the houses they own probably went up $50-$100.

not renting, but prop value fell through the floor so that should come back in real estate taxes somewhat
