Anyone else's dog bark at the cordless phone?

Our dog seems to bark fairly frequently when we get on the cordless phone. Could there be some sort of emission from the phone (a Motorola 5.8GHz) that she hears that we can't? I'm curious if there are other pups bothered by cordless phones.

It could just be that she gets mad about the phone because it means we're not paying attention to her. She's a jealous dog sometimes. :)

Your pooch is part ridgeback right? I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've heard my dog bark that wasn't provoked by me (playtime).

She's a lab/ridgeback mix.

Doubtful. It's probably the phone being held to your head that freaks them out more than anything.

Neither of my dogs are bothered by our 5.8ghz cordless phones.

Maybe the ear piece of the phone produces some high pitched noise that your dog can hear?

What if you just hold the cordless phone but don't turn it on, does your dog bark then?

Yes, she's a Ridgeback/Belgian shepherd mix. She doesn't bark often except at strangers at the door or dogs walking outside on the path near our house.

Ok, seems like the consensus is that dogs don't bark at phones. She's probably just upset at being ignored, which is typical of our spoiled furry one.

Hmm, that's an idea. I'll try that when I get home.
