Anyone else worried about availability?

These new chips were launched in April. That is, give or take, 3 months. There is still no availability, just small patches of X800Pros and 6800NUs/GTs popping up from place to place. It is August. We are rapidly approaching speed bump time.

Anyone else think it's possible the Fall Refresh will get (paper) launched before the original chips are widely available?

What kind of manufacturing problems could the big two possibly be having? I have seen no news....

yeah i'm worried about it too...what good is the best and brightest technology when you can't even buy one unless you don't mind getting price-gouged

If you are looking for a eVGA 6800 NU/ GT/ Ultra, they have readily been avaialbe on their website.

I have purchased a 6800GT in June, then a week ago, purchased a 6800 Ultra. While they might not be readily available in retail, you can get what you need from eVGA.

6800GT and 6800Ultra from eVGA are both backordered right now. I don't know what website you're looking at.

I want the big stuff. 6800 ULTRA or the x800XT PE.

I dont want to stoop down to a GT or PRO. And, yes, I know the GT can be overclocked to an ULTRA, but I'd much rather have that power without overclocking.

I've emailed customer support at eCost about their x800XT PE card. http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=434568&store=ecost&source=ECOSTDEAL&adcampaign=email,ECOSTDEAL

They claim to have a shippment coming in on August 8th. Well, I dont entirely trust them now after reading their reviews on resellerratings.com Most likely they will throw a 9200SE Radeon in a x800XT PE box and send it to you.

Still looking for ULTRAS and XT-PEs. The September 20th ETA at CompUSA doesn't look too promising.

I think its a crock o sh*t. Its been months now. Either some over aggressive launch dates or some hoarding going on. There should be punishments for hoarders.

I don't expect a refresh until about 9 months after launch (6 months from now). These cards are still way too new - availability is low, prices are up, and the drivers still have a way to go. There is absolutely no good reason for there to be a refresh anytime soon.

I preordered my BFG 6800Ultra from Best Buy on June 21st, and got it in the mail last week. i wasn't price gouged either, 551.00 with tax and shipping.

If you want one, pre-order and wait for it to come.

I got sick of the whole pre-order run around. Kept my eyes on newegg, and jumped on the GT when they had it in stock.

It took BB a month to get mine to me. I doubt your wait will be as long, but keep on them.

Why would they horde them when they can sell them for $100+ above retail right now? If they keep them for later, they will lose money.

What you're suggesting is hording on an enormous scale. I doubt it's possible, but hey, who knows. Bought gas lately? ;)

I have the ASUS V9999 Ultra Deluxe on order with a retailer in the UK. Your guess is as good as mine as to when we can expect to see them....in fact I might cancel my order and just wait. :(

Hmm my pny from compusa oc to ultra levels without a sweat. Its the first thing i did after the driver install. 400/550 like nothin at all. Go spend the xtra 100 if u like.

Dont think the xtra head room on the ultra is all that worth it, unless yer planning on slapping a water block on there AND have a amd64 at least. I can already tell my barton 3200 is holdin me back after slapping this sucker in.

And at least ive seen the gt's in stock here and there, online and in the stores.
Has anyone seen an x800 xt? Its like big foot, does it actually exist? For that matter, i havent seen any 800 pros either, except at xt prices!

Its a friggin shame. Nvidia n ati could be making money hand over fist, but looks like the only ones making out are the price gouger retailers. N i bet even they'd be better off if they just got these in numbers and made the money on volume..

BBY SHOULD have BFG 6800GT's arriving in stores in limited quantities soon. Also, the X800 Pro will be available for special order THROUGH THE STORE come August 10. If you want the Pro, go in and ask them to look under "Customer Fulfillment" and they should find them available on August 10. I do not know if the Pro's will be available on the website as well, but I know you can Customer Fullfill them. I personally will be ripping my 6800GT right off the truck when it comes in, as I happen to work for Best Buy. This info comes from BBY district in Eastern North Carolina, so I hope it will be consistent across the nation. Good luck all

Hundreds have been sold on the eVGA site. You snooze you loose.

I have been able to get the GT and Ultra from eVGA. So not my fault youre not putting any effort in to really buying one.

Not really. April/May propoganda is really code for Christmas anymore, it seems. As long as they make it on the seen in mass before the fall refresh cards show up in May 2005 they will be alright. If your upset, just look at Intel's debacle. Remember HL2 is just around the corner and should be able to use those vouchers for Christmas

I think this is all crazy, you all are begging to plop down $400 to $500+ for a video card. I swear I want to call up Mass Mutual and have all of my 401k put into ATI and Nvidia stock, they both are going to have some sweet income statements next quarter.

Seriously, I got an x800pro, and I think it rocks. I am playing Far Cry at 16x12 with high quality settings and getting 40-65 fps easy, and Doom3 at 12x10 with High Quality and getting 35-50 fps. And I have a P4 2.4ghz cpu.

HERE'san x800 pro in stock.

Yep, I just talked to customer support on eVGA. They will have a shipment coming in on the 10th, and another one coming in "late next week" or "early the week after".

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT! The 6800 ULTRA cards can now be purchased without waiting months!

However, I am one of the few holding out for the x800XT PE card. I am finally upgrading my 64MB RADEON SDR card (Radeon 7200).
