Well, some a$$fvck at corporate IT decided that valentine's day at 8:30 pm would be a good time to go live worldwide with the new version of our ERP system. So I'm going to be stuck at work Saturday probably from around 6 pm to midnight or later depending on what issues arise. My wife was NOT happy about this plan. Any ideas on what to get her or do for her to make things a little better?

Maybe you can surprise her with an early valentines day on friday, and go all out. Itd probably be better anyway.

I've done that in the past and she enjoyed it. But she's 8 months pregnant. I guess she could still get the facial and pedicure and whatever else. She just wouldn't be able to lay on her stomach for a back massage.

That is pretty selfish. Don't they realize other people want to do their own romantic things on v-day and not be stuck at someone else's wedding? They should have done it on Friday. Then they could have had their very first full day of marriage be v-day.

My girlfriend and I both have to work, but luckily we work together. So, my plan is to "take a break" and come back with flowers and a present.

LOL. When I first read the "take a break" part, I had an entirely different image in my head.:D

That would suck if they ended up divorced... Every time after that, if someone were to give them flowers for V-Day, it would be a reminder of their wedding.

On the other hand... if I were the guy (and felt obligated to purchase flowers on v-day and my anniversary), then it's a 2 for 1 deal :)

That blows... whoTF decided that ? Moron.

Last year my fiancee was stuck at work so late that she had to go home to her parents' place instead of home here with me cause it was closer there. I was so pissed at her job/boss the entire night into the next day...

I work ten pm to six am, so yeah, Vday itself is gonna suck for me. :( We are celebrating it Friday instead.

Um, Valentine's Day is crap, make your own holiday unique to you and her. You can't have the 15th, that's my fiancee and my day.

haha. Yeah, I didn't think about that. But then they could have been really proud if the marriage lasted.

I'm guessing the decision was made by some lonely bitter computer geeks as a cruel way of punishing those of us who actually have wives or gf's. :D
