Everyone in our area got a ~45 page paper mailed to them giving info about all the candidates in the upcoming Democratic primary. One got mailed to my wife even and she is a registered Republican. Anyways I was looking through this thing and started laughing my ass off. The first thing that stands out is that the normal obviously favored boring party candidate for each position is listed first for each position. (It is also alphabetical, but the fact the 1st candidate in the alphabetized list for each position is also the clear favorite is so obvious is makes me suspect the party might even actively search for sane people whose last names begin with A or B to back them). Anyways Jimmy McMillan is the 2nd candidate in the Democratic race for Mayor of New York. Even just looking at his picture in the thing it seems like a joke candidate. Then you get to his answers to the 3 questions they ask each candidate to get their positions:
His answers to all 3 questions end with "Rent is Too Damn High". 1 & 3 also start with that. In fact for 3 it is the only sentence. Half of his sentences are not grammatically correct. My personal favorite is "Housing Homeless Emergency Bill will make it illegal foe an abandon building to exist anywhere in the 5 Boro's".
Other true gems of impossible campaign promises: (I would be overjoyed if he achieved them though!)

2009 campaign site is here: McMillan '09
Turn your sound up for both of these.
My reasoning for voting for him is that:
a) The other candidates are just as inept and more corrupt. The main guy in the race was an aide to Mayor Dinkins.
b) At least this way we get some comedy.
Update: McMillan says he is no longer running in the Democratic primary, as the odds are better in the general election. I think this is dead wrong, he would have a better chance in the primary because there are fewer voters in the primary, and if he won the primary, the general election would be easier because most people only choose between the 2 names that have an (R) or a (D) next to them.
1. What is the most important issue in the city you would address if elected?
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
