I turned them on to prevent ransomware from encrypting my photos and files. But by default it adds the the users documents folder and now i get lots of errors about apps unable to access my documents folder. That in of itself is not bad but the error message is limited to so many characters like twitter that it is hard to know what the app name or location is that is being blocked.

Is this a beta for Windows and they will fix it so i can get a full path and name in the future in order to know what apps are being blocked?

I tried it when it first was introduced. If memory is right there is a way to select and de-select folders etc.

there is and i added my 2TB drive to the list but there are several behind the scene window functions that are being blocked but because windows cannot give me a full and path i cannot know what they are. I can search by what little info but if there is more than one exe file for the partial name i search for i cannot figure it out.

I have played with it, there is a reason it is disabled by default.

Needs a better interface. At the moment you need to just do trial and error to find out what programs are blocked and whitelist them as you go. Also you will not get a notice until the program tries to do a write to a protected folder. Whitelist doesn't take effect until the program is restarted so you need to disable the entire thing to save your work even after whitelisting.

I need to find where the logs are for it still (haven't had time to really look into it), I just have been going off the truncated path shown in notification center which is not too useful.

One super annoying thing for me is that the Heroes of the Storm game for some reason makes a version folder that it puts the exe into so every update you need to whitelist again in the NEW location, really dumb design by blizzard...

Thanks for the heads up dudes, its a great feature that looks like it has some teething issues but it will do a lot for protection in the long haul.

I use it for my most important stuff... if you have files that other programs access, I suggest to use that as backups, until they come up with a easier way to deal with those programs.

Does that mean you use it to protect your Katy Perry MP3's?
