Anyone else use Gamespot?

I've gone to Gamespot for gaming news since about 97. They've always been a favorite of mine. But it seems like in the past couple of months they've become VERY opinionated. Anyone else that goes to gamespot for news know what I mean?

I used to read them back in the day but they just got weird when they got huge, then then getting caught giving higher reviews for a certain game really turned me off to them.

I use IGN for news, but the thing I hate is you can't filter out their worthless tech reviews (they are a joke when they review a phone for example), movie rumors, reviews of every damn episode of every show out there which is also stupid. They get news fast and update many times daily though which is why they are my go to.

You're thinking of Buzzfeed, where every topic circles back to an LGBT discussion.

I haven't visited Gamespot in years. They lost a lot of credibility after the Kane & Lynch scandal back in 2007. Sacked a writer for allegedly giving a sponsor's game a bad review, though they denied that was the reason.

IGN is okay. So is Joystiq. Kotaku does have some interesting articles but it's more blog than news site.

IGN is ok. I'll go there to get a kind of feel for a particular game, take a peek at the community scores, and maybe watch a video of gameplay. Everything else though, is largely crap.
I go there for the games. I don't care about "nerd culture". I don't need another article ranking the Top 10 Batman cowls, or who the best Avengers are, is Breaking Bad better than Jesus, and that always seems to be at least half the site.

Gamespot is similar.

Basically, YouTube has almost removed the appeal of sites like IGN as anything more than news and a curiosity stop. If I really want to learn about a game, I'll watch reviewers who I've come to trust, read forums, etc.

Eurogamer is late on news where IGN has already posted sometimes.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people confuse the gaming retailer Gamestop with the gaming news website Gamespot.

Although I suppose that technically, Gamestop has a website too. One in which they charge $90 for used copies of Xenoblade. I'd avoid them too. D:

They have a VERY strange "community". And, most of their reviews don't make much sense.

I think the last time I visited Gamespot was to "view" some DoA wallpapers from the Saturn release.
