Anyone else up putting together toys?

My wife bought my daughter this huge princess castle thing and I'm not enjoying putting it together! I'm about to drop out in a a sugar coma as well from eating the "santa cookies"

Yeah, I know, I coulda just tossed 'em, but they're cookies dammit! They needed to be eaten!

I miss those days bunker. My youngest is almost 12 now and none of her gifts needs assembling. The most work I'll have to do tomorrow is hook up the PS2 and get Guitar Hero running for the brood. It's gonna be fun to watch them go. 😀

I miss having toys to put together on christmas eve. enjoy it while you can. 🙂

I think I've got everything situated so the curious cat can't get behind the tree and get stuck there in the night, and all the packages with ribbons on them situated in such a way that the stupid cat that eats ribbon can't get to 'em and eat the bows off before morning and the really crazy cat is missing, I hope she went to bed with my daughter (it's her cat, just visiting!) so.. I'm pretty much out of things to do, must be bedtime. 🙂

merry christmas.

The castle is done (wasn't that bad really)...I'm just sitting here at the kitchen table on the laptop waiting for her to wake up so i can shovel her right back to her room and keep the castle a surprise. She wakes up damn near every night at around 1-2 am having to go the bathroom. For some reason she won't just go and go back to bed, she has to get either myself or my wife to take her.

Which is odd considering during the day if you go near the bathroom when she's going she'll yell at you to give her her privacy... (3 yrs old)

I'm up wrapping presents. No matter how many times I tell myself I'll get it done early next time, I always end up having to wrap everything on Christmas Eve.

When I was little I'd always get up in the wee hours of the morning to go look at all the stuff around the tree that my mom and dad had put together after I'd gone to bed. It was nice to see it all sitting there so pretty before my brothers and I got up and ripped into it. 🙂

My wife does most of the wrapping, since my idea of wrapping is to cover the present in wrapping paper and then completely encapsulate the whole thing in duct tape. I figure that since alot of the enjoyment of X-mas morning is the unwrapping of presents, I'm just giving the kids more joy to savor. If it takes them 20 mins. to open one present, then I've done my part as a dad to make their X-mas morning more memorable. 😀

Needless to say, my wife hardly ever lets me wrap anything anymore.

I built a pirate ship earlier tonight, and put together a few things last night to make sure everything worked before wrapping them up.
