anyone know how far along it was and why they cancelled it? i thought it looked excellent. the only other highlander game i am aware of was the atari jaguar CD one from 1995 which wasnt as bad as most would have you believe, it was actually pretty good for its day (although it was based on the cartoon and not done by the same team as the cancelled game by Codemasters)

I say this without knowing any details of the game that was cancelled, but an MMORPG of that universe would be awesome, especially if there were tons and tons of normal human NPCs to populate the game world.

I don't know. I'm a highlander fan but I don't think the lore is deep enough to justify a game, let alone an mmorpg. What would the premise be? Every player is immortal and attracted by the quickening? Does this mean that it's permadeath for players? Also, based on how often I saw Duncan MacLeod kill immortals on the show, there always seemed to be an irrational number of immortals running around. Did the government never think that the outbreak of headless corpses deserved some attention by the FBI?

Anyways, I think a single player game based on the first Highlander film would be cool, especially if there was real twitch sword play. An MMORPG? No thanks. Not having a game is better than having a terrible one.

I agree with the above. Even a single player game would have a flimsy premise. The lore in Highlander is primarily based on the actions of one or more of the Immortals, things they done in the past, people they've interacted with, etc.

However, I do think it's time for a new TV series, one that deepens the background and moves beyond the 'evil immortal of the week' formula.
