Same old thing. Either its an inspirational coach that comes in and whips up the team and takes them to the championship or it's a single talented player that joins the team and takes this losing team to the championship. And of course they'll always win.

As much as I like watching football there's been way too many football movies and shows lately. I'm staying away from them for awhile.

Is it different than others?

Possible Spoiler:........ Doesn't the star QB get injured in the pilot episode... same thing as Varsity Blues. Maybe it is varsity blues I'm thinking of.

But yeah, OP I am tired of the same thing every time as well. Now I just saw a preview for some football movie with Matthew Mcconnaughey. Looks the same as the rest.

I can say I absolutely dislike sports movies. I dislike sports video games as well. It's the same thing over, and over, and over again.

how is that any diffrent then any other movie? seems hollywood can't come up with anything orginal so they just change the plot slightly and say its a new movie.

Sports movies and military movies are the worst at that though. They deserve to be singled out, because they are so formulaic and jingoistic. Sort of like the "New Country" of the motion picture industry.

It's been a bad few years for hollywood in general though. Other than the big comic book blockbusters, very little quality fare. pleh.

Ehh I loved Friday Night Lights, but mostly because I was able to relate to it as I played HS football and spent many a times focusing only on that preparing for the next season and during that season. So I guess that's why it is my favorite sports movie.

kind of a stretch to call that a sports movie...

Can Karate Kid be classified as a sports movie... I mean, it has a coach, an untrained kid and a tournament :p

When I saw that I was like "WTF, the lost?"

That's because the guy who wrote the book followed the team around for a year, and that year they just happened to make it to the state semi-finals and lose. :) If he followed them around the next year, it would have been a different story (I think they won the championship the next year).
