Anyone else think windows has gotten to be a bit of a mess?

I mean like its difficult to ascertain where you would actually go to find a certain option, a lot of the time i find tickboxes or options in places i would never have guessed they would be in. I just found the "what to search" option under folder options-->search tab.

I don't know where i would put that option im no OS designer but i would never have guessed it would be in there... I personally think microsoft needs a dose of apple with its next OS release.

Also another kind of unrelated thing is that doing stuff is tedious sometimes, why the hell after 10+ years of having a GUI do my icons still get shafted whenever i install a new graphics driver?? The quick screen resolution change that goes with this screws all my icons up and they all end up in a big mess at the left side. Dunno about you guys but i lump my desktop icons in categories rather than have everything over at the left side of the screen. Cant windows remember where i put them!?

Another annoying thing, this is vista exclusive, when you try and select multiple icons, you cant click between the icons easily anymore, it highlights pretty much whatever icon is nearest. Example being yesterday highlighting a line of photos on the desktop, i wanted to select half of the next row, so i hold down control and try to click at the top of the screen to lasoo the row of icons but it wont lasoo! it only selects the thing at the top and then for some crazy reason makes copies/shortcuts of what i had selected already. Thats frickin balls. Coupled with the previous point about windows being a mess, i have no idea in hell if/how i can change these things as i wouldn't know where to find the option. Help is fine if you know what to type, what the hell would i type though? "How do i lasoo icons without having it select the icon instead of like lassoing it...." I can barely word the problem on here so help wouldn't be much help.

This is another vista exclusive thing, why does it... no forget it, pictures say more than words. Heres some pictures:

Ya see that? Yeah its a directory at the top yeah? Its always been there, XP had it, so did 98, 95 too.

See this? That random bunch of folders n stuff. How does that relate to the directory im in?! Didnt it used to show exactly how you arrived at that directory in windows XP?! Like c:/folderx/foldery/whereyouarenow in a sort of vertial line. What the hells this random junk its got there?

Anyways yeah im not liking this bullcrap. Maybe ill make a nice thread about windows highlighting its positive features, ctrl+z in paint is invaluble, the new ctrl+alt+del system, i mentioned before a while back is fantastic. But yeah things should be easier and make more sense.

Oh yeah and also

**I have noticed this too, but was more of me learning to do somthing differently. What is happening, is your lasso is too wide. So effectively what you are doing is copying your icons. Try learning to make your lasso as thin as possible. Then it's cake.

**Because, by default, it shows the directory path. FYI you can turn it off 🙂

**It's a history of where you've been. For example, if I've been tinkering around multiple folders all day, then open IE to surf, my histiry is all there. It's a little annoying, but I believe you can turn that off too (cacheing your history).

Remember this isnt XP. If you want XP, then stay with it. Another cool feature not known about is snipper tool. Basically its screenshots on steroids. Check it out 😉
