Anyone else think the new Underworld movie was lacking?

I've seen a lot of really positive reviews for this,and when I actually saw it I was dissapointed. It had decent special effects, acting and the story was ok, but it just seemed too over the top for me. That, combined with the plot holes left me missing the first installment, which wasn't great, but I enjoyed it. Anyone else have a comment?
