I am.
I'm reading anand's revision 2 article and it seems like it's going to be a very smooth chipset. I like how the IO is looking ..
anyone else have thoughts?

I've been using VIA for too long, time for a change ... also interested in mATX so I can make a little media box possibly.

On a side note, I wish that all mobo manufacturers would make boards that are as easy on the eyes as this sexy thing.

since i have a good experience with the first NForce i can't wait for this one...

although i think the board on your link need a better colour scheme, i think it's pretty cute as well...
but i prefer full sized ATX boards.. mATX boards just doesn't come with enough PCI slots for all my PCI expansion cards...

thanks for the link..

nforce is a very good thing for AMD. Great chipsets for OEM's...I just built an Nforce 1 setup for a buddy....bought the board from newegg for like 70 bucks...on board geforce2, LAN, dolby sound...what a deal

For my main rig I wouldn't go mATX .. :)
Just for a little media box that would sit in the basement and leech vids/music off my lan :)

edit: Anyone know anything about this board? It's nforce1 but this isn't gonna be a gaming rig, just gonna throw a pci tV card in there and viola.

Although I run Intel systems, its nice to see the AMD guys have better options than the VIA stuff they have been stuck with in the past. If I were to build an AMD based system, I'd likely use nforce 2.

I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. After its paper launch, the first nForce failed to impress. nForce2 will have to prove itself and address the issues of its predecessor before it earns my approval.

Hey Leo V was it you a couple of years back that wrote up that big thread about the quiet AMD 1.2 system? I remember a shroud and a super quiet PSU, one fan did it all .. was that you? Or another Leo something?

how much will the nforce2 cost? can you get it w/o that onboard gf4 mx? cuz a gf4 mx would suck dood. i would just be paying for a onboard card that i wouldnt use.

Yes the nforce2 boards will come in many configurations. Both with and without the built in gf4mx.

Oh darn sorry about that dude... but that's scary you ppl pay out the ars...

Cad dollars are lesser in value than american dollars, hence the seemingly higher price. What is the value you of a Cad dollar to an American dollar now anyway? Is it still 67 cents or something like that?

when the hell is it coming out!

i am hoping to be building a computer for one of my dads employees, and it doesnt have to be top of the line gaming rig, so i was planning on using it along with 2 sticks pc2700 128mb(pricing reasons) and the reviewed samsung monitor. Then all i would need would be hd, cd-rw, dvd, kb, mouse, fdd, and speakers if they want them.

i would go 2 sticks for the integrated graphics, so they are better. also this would allow the computer to run with only one in it incase one dies then their comp isnt gone for a few days.

I wanna get at it.

From what I'm hearing, Nvidia is having some yield problems on the Nforce Northbridges. Apparently, the non GFX parts will start to filter into the retail channel soon, but the integrated graphics parts will be delayed a bit longer. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see the integrated graphics NF2 boards until December. Apparently, the integrated graphics cores that are coming out bad are getting the graphics part of the NB disabled and being sold as the non graphics parts. :(

Personally, I'm waiting for the Epox 8RDA+. However, I don't agree with all this Via is unstable and awful crap....I'm just looking for something new to play with. :)

I agree with Insane, VIA ain't bad and I've been using them for a while, I've been happy. Nforce just seems fun.

USD and CND looks kind of like .. 50 CND dollars will get you about 2 dollars USD .. so it's actually you guys that are getting ripped off :p
:)

j/k
like 61 cents I think.

That was me :) I have improved it and published this article over on SilentPCReview. I took an opportunity this fall to upgrade to a P4, which I also turned into a near-silent system @ 2.5ghz. Details and case pics in this thread (scroll down for case & psu pics), if you're interested :)

too bad no Intel....I wouldn't mind an AMD myself, but when I am building a machine for the 'inept' I want max compatibility.

This is the first offering I have seen that I can merely buy a motherboard/CPU as a complete upgrade. For most the GF MX chipset on this board is major overkill.

It's impressive...I don't see it as long from now where cutting edge A/V is built in from the start and you only have to upgrade it when it becomes outdated.
