Wrong... They have access to insurance. Doesn't mean they have it. The numbers of previously uninsured that they signed up never made their targets for enrollment.

The best estimated I saw were 10 million. That is certainly not the majority of 40 million and a good chunk of those were re-enrolments from those kicked off insurance. I believe CBO estimates were that 30 million would still not have insurance after the ACA was fully implemented.

Try and get the information on how much these plans actually cost, and what you get for them. Then come back with what actual changes are made. Not just how much you contribute out of pocket to the plan.

My company actually had employee costs stay the same rate two years in a row.
THAT WAS A NEW ONE! And a shocker to everyone.
Usually under our employer insurance, costs raised EACH AND EVERY YEAR, and, seeking to keep costs down as much as possible, the company had to change providers nearly every year, or every other year. That was until these past few years.
Our costs stayed the same for two years THEN actually dropped 2% this year.
Co-pays stayed the same AND the insurance provider stayed the same. WOOT!!! :D

But thats not the big news....
Our company sent out letters stating that spouses which had been denied insurance due to pre-exisitings in the past, could and would now BE INSURED by simply re-applying.
Then the letter about kids to the age or 26 could also be covered under that employees plan.

I don't know your situation, but either you're feeding us bull, or your company is feeding YOU bull, or possibly both.

They probably didn't send you a memo reminding you that your FSA was now capped to $2500 thanks to the ACA though... Did they? THANKS OBAMACARE!!!!

Well, there's that, but the incessant whining about "rising" healthcare insurance costs is worse. Start with the fact that it's always non-specific & utterly vague, often posted by people who don't even understand the plans from their employers, always ending up in the same Hate-Um Obama! place.

What's different about the new plan, if anything? What does the employer pay vs employee, & how has that changed? What level of coverage is provided? What else is covered under the benefits package?

Every time it comes up, it's the same- rally the Faithful against teh ebil Gubmint, goad each other into downing a few more shots of stupefaction, maintain that lovely sense of repression & self righteousness.

$192.52 every two weeks to $343.66 starting Jan 1st. I do not know exactly what my employer pays for providing me with health insurance.

That's not how much it costs, that's only how much you pay out of pocket. Your employer pays the rest, that compensation is PART of your overall pay. Come on it's not that hard to understand.

Till you figure out what actual changes to the insurance plan, and how much you pay vs your employer you have no clue how much actual change in the insurance cost.

And, what was expected to happen with a privatized service? These companies have to make profits (not money to just operate,.. but, goals to meet a % in increase in profits).

This is why Barry should have gone for broke and shoved universal healthcare down everyone's throats,.. not ACA. There are certainly people who have benefited from ACA,.. and there are certainly no Death Panels (,.. GASP,..), but ACA is not Universal Healthcare. And, we need Universal Healthcare,... you know, like how everyone else on the planet has it.

ACA will haunt Barry's legacy and it will become far more infamous than Nixon's push to privatize health services.

That's step 2.

Step 2? That started long before the ACA came into existence. And for that matter, prices were rising at an unsustainable rate well before the ACA too. The system would have collapsed regardless of ACA or not.

I suspect that's because of the non-expansion of Medicaid in Repub led states.

Companies will be saving bank paying the fine for not providing insurance and dropping their employer covered health care.

The numbers have been run. There are going to be a lot of disappointed employees who have to fend for themselves and get their own insurance. And not just any insurance. Obamacare insurance.

I thought Capitalists competed for employees, remember? A decent benefits package is part of that, obviously.

This is why we need to get rid of employer health plans all together, people have no clue what they are actually paying.

Most don't take the time to read/understand the plans they're being offered. I know exactly what my monthly premiums are for medical, dental, and vision. I understand the deductible required (individual/family), copay after the deductible has been met as well as the max out of pocket I will pay (individual/family).

Hell, it was always a big topic of discussion among my former coworkers during the annual open enrollment period. It's not that everybody knew all the numbers, but rather that they understood how much the Company put in vs how much we put in & what big changes it might mean for their families.

Which is why I find a lot of the moaning to be, well, dishonest. The moaners don't know shit about their own plans, but it's obviously Obama's fault cuz, well, cuz that's what Fox told 'em, ya know?

The first moaner beckons the rest with his lament so that they can all moan in unison, all about the same shit, mostly ideological rather than real.

I have to say my company is very forthcoming with the information and costs to employees both via a package sent to the employee's house and email/lunchroom postings. They have several HR sponsored Q&A's in the two weeks leading up to the enrollment period. Being that they are self insured our premiums are not as expensive as the exchange offerings with similar benefits. Our deductible/co-pays/max out of pocket are well below what the exchanges offer.

The company is self insured, my premiums are to pay Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to administer the program.

That doesn't matter. They still have to pay a certain amount into the 'self insured' part. Like most people, me included, you don't know how much your employer has to pay on your behalf to provide you insurance.

A bank technology manager who had researched his insurance coverage, Mr. Drier was prepared when the bills started arriving: $56,000 from Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, $4,300 from the anesthesiologist and even $133,000 from his orthopedist, who he knew would accept a fraction of that fee.

He was blindsided, though, by a bill of about $117,000 from an “assistant surgeon,” a Queens-based neurosurgeon whom Mr. Drier did not recall meeting.

$310,000+ for 3 hours of surgery.

My company has no deductible and its free if you are single and have no dependants. I pay 25 bucks a week for me and my kids for medical and dental. Its cost shifting by your employer. Ask to see their contribution from last year and this years.

I don't know why you're asking me these questions. My employer paid 100% of my premiums and also told us exactly how much they paid. I didn't compare the cost before ACA and after to my company. I switched to my wife's plan when I switched jobs last year and it was very reasonable to put me on it. I can't comment on how much it did or did not go up. I've had friends who told me their premiums went up significantly, but I haven't asked for details because it isn't any of my business.
